Connecting with kids…

Standard

NV students were out in full force this week connecting with elementary age students.  Members of The PEACE Project played the roles of superheroes for area cancer patients, literally and figuratively.  Our students dressed up like princesses and superheroes and threw a party for kids who need some positive forces in their lives.  Also this week, our Cosmetology students worked with Whiteford Elementary students, teaching them elements of style and design.

Congratulations to Parker and Emily, who were recognized alongside some of NV’s all time greats!

Jazz Fest a hit!

In true Jazz fashion, our young musicians were roughly planning  improvisations just before the curtains were pulled on the 28th annual NV Jazz Fest.  NV students performed with students from the University of Toledo, and other area high schools.

How do you know everyone in a group is contributing?

Standard

Mrs. Stewart had each student in a group use a different marker, helping her see who was contributing what to their Chemistry calculations.  She also told the small teams that all members needed to be able to explain anything on the whiteboard.  Groups had many options that covered differing difficulty levels and attempted to earn as many points as they could by solving her challenges in one class period. #ingenuity

Dr. Mason to @NVLeaders – build your toolbox, be resourceful

Standard

Dr. Renee Mason, our March Leadership Lunch speaker, expressed a deep sense of gratitude for all the people that helped her along the way on the road to becoming a doctor and an entrepreneur.  She talked about her parents, classmates, and others who provided her with the solid foundation and positive peer pressure to excel.  She also encouraged our students to “build your toolbox” with the time remaining in high school and in college by saying yes to opportunities to learning new things and being involved with different groups of people.  A big thank you to Dr. Mason for sharing her time and wisdom with our young people!
