Volunteer opportunity for the holiday season…

One of the Metropark’s favorite holiday traditions–  “Holidays in the Manor House” is  looking for volunteers to help as stationary tour guides in the Manor House.

For 39 years, the Metroparks of the Toledo area have presented “Holidays at the Manor House” at Wildwood Preserve.  It  is a great event where the rooms of this former Stranahan Estate known as the Manor House or Stranleigh are decorated for the holiday season by local volunteers.  The mansion is then open free of charge to the general  public from Sat, Dec 6th through Sunday, Dec 14th from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day.

The volunteers help with moving people along as they look at the rooms and also may be able to tell some facts about the rooms or the decorations.  The volunteers get into the spirit by dressing in holiday attire and are treated to healthy snacks after their shifts.  It is a wonderful way to help through volunteering and to catch the holiday spirit!

This volunteer opportunity qualifies for service hours for students and confirmation forms for schools or programs will be mailed to the students after volunteering.  Students 14 and over may volunteer on their own and those 12-13 years old may volunteer with a parent or guardian.

Here’s the volunteer shifts. We ask that the volunteers arrive 30 minutes before their schedule shift to park, sign-in and get their room assignment.

The shifts are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.; 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. each day.

The days are…

Sat, Dec 6

Sun, Dec 7

Mon, Dec 8

Tues, Dec 9

Wed, Dec 10

Thurs, Dec 11

Fri, Dec 12

Sat, Dec 13

There is a training for volunteering at Holidays in the Manor House and preview for volunteers of the decorated house on Friday, December 5th from 4-7 p.m. (trainings 4:30, 5:30 or 6:30 p.m)  This is not mandatory but highly encouraged for new volunteers.

We are also looking for volunteers to help with …

“Decorator Daze” Sun, Nov 30, Mon, Dec. 3rd & Tues, Dec 2nd .

“Tear Down Daze” Mon, Dec 15th and Tues, Dec. 16th.
