The Class of 2017 gathered together on Friday for the Senior Assembly, all decked out in their caps and gowns. Members of the senior class were awarded scholarships, certificates, and honor pins. Several soon to be graduates also had a chance to share thoughts on their journey over these four years. This group of young people will study at colleges and universities in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Colorado, Alabama, South Carolina, Florida, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Canada, the United States Coast Guard Academy, and right here in the great state of Ohio. Those who have enlisted in the military were given a special honor cord to wear at graduation. This class has accepted nearly 4.5 million dollars in grants and scholarships at institutions of higher learning. Beyond the books, these young men and women were a part of nearly a dozen league titles, and donated almost 29,000 hours of service to the community. From helping launch danceGOLD, several peer tutoring programs, Project Unify, to the academic and co-curricular accomplishments at the state and national level, to making our student sections at athletic contests one of the most organized and spirited in our area, this group of young men and women have both upheld Northview’s tradition of excellence and added to it. We are very proud of them!
Three of our junior engineering teams qualified to head to Washington, DC to compete among the top 100 qualifying rocketry teams across the country recently. These three teams competed with more than 800 others for those top 100 spots. One of the teams finished 1st nationally in the rocket building competition. On the whole, these kids, once again, finished strong enough to be in consideration for the NASA SLI contest in the coming years. Way to go NV engineers!
