Medical Technology Juniors Stand Out in Columbus…

On March 14, Sylvania Junior Med Tech students and their chapter adviser, Dawn Solder, attended the Ohio HOSA State Leadership Conference in Columbus. Over 1,000 students from around the state attended with hopes of receiving 1st, 2nd, or 3rd place in their event.

Breanna Pelland and Corey Anderson tested in Medical Terminology and Hunter Fritz in Epidemiology. Kari Gajewicz, Breanna Aliemenious, Hallie Tumasian, and Jennifer Lafferty competed in Community Awareness. Catherine Westphal took part in drawing an Extemporaneous Health Poster. Victoria Gryca entered her scrapbook of the year’s events for the Outstanding HOSA Chapter and worked to receive the Barbara James Service Award. Christian Bohlke, Brock Donnelly, Alex Davenport, and Andrew Hosinski competed in HOSA Bowl. Hailey Bies showed off her skills in Clinical Specialty. Mohamed Awada displayed his fitness improvements in Healthy Lifestyle. Morgan Cravens was interviewed and gave a speech in front of an assembly for a chance to become an Ohio HOSA State Officer and worked to receive the Barbara James Service award as well as the National Service Project award.

The following students were recognized for achieving one of the top 3 spots in the state to move onto the National Leadership Conference in Anaheim, California this upcoming June: Hunter Fritz took 1st place in Epidemiology; Corey Anderson won 3rd place in Medical Terminology; Victoria Gryca and Morgan Cravens were recognized for achieving 50 service hours  for the BJSP; Morgan Cravens was elected to be HOSA Vice President for the state of Ohio and was recognized for her work on the NSP.

We are very proud of all of our students who qualified for states and excited for those who are moving onto nationals this summer!
