Did your valentine’s day idea with your significant other bomb? How about a night of laughs with @NViewTheatre to make up for it?

Moon Over Buffalo, a hilarious comedy, will be the spring production of the Northview High School Theatre Department.

How funny is the play? Carol Burnett returned to Broadway for the first time in 30 years to star in Moon Over Buffalo when it debuted in 1995.

The play takes place in Buffalo in 1953. Husband and wife George and Charlotte Hay are performing in town with a traveling troupe of actors. They get a call telling them that a famous director is looking for actors to play leading roles in a movie and will be attending one of their shows.

From there, things get wacky. The action and dialogue are fast-paced, with misunderstandings, mistaken identities, and bad feelings leading to mass confusion.

“After two serious plays including Bad Seed and Our Town, it was time to return a comedy to our stage. Moon Over Buffalo is one of my favorite comedies written by Ken Ludwig” said Director, Don Wachowiak.

This brilliantly written, fast paced comedy, last performed at Northview in 2004-2005, offers side splitting situations and some out of the blue twists that you are sure to enjoy.

Dozens of Northview students are involved with the show, with some onstage and many more taking care of lights, sound, props, costumes, and makeup.

Buffalo wings its way to the Northview Performing Arts Center stage at 7:30 p.m. on April 16, 17, and 18, and at 2:30 p.m. on April 19. There will also be an understudy performance April at 18 at 2:30 p.m., expanding performance opportunities for the students.

The show is not recommended for young children due to some plot elements and language.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for students and senior citizens. Tickets are available now at www.northviewtheatre.org or by calling the box office at 419-824-8719.
